“Regretfully, then, we are left in the unsustainable state that the value Guppe provides to its community is insufficient to cover the cost of providing it. As a final opportunity to preserve Guppe, we have reduced the minimum contribution amount to join the Guppe Platform Cooperative to $2/month or $19/year. If Guppe cannot reach a level of funding to cover all of the hosting and a couple hours of administrative labor per month, then service at a.gup.pe will shut down on May 31st, 2023.”
As we do not know how things will go, and as we've seen last week servers can go down without any warning, it is advisable that we maintain at least two identical groups in different servers as redundancy, and to ensure community continuity.
I suggest, no matter the result of Guppe's funding call, we follow and tag @bookstodon and @books at the same time. If worse comes to worst, we have community continuity, and our awesome discussions can continue with as few interruptions as possible.
@elysegrasso Cheers! #Guppe needs support. I have high hopes they will reach their target, and more, which will benefit everyone. We need these services up and running for our community groups. ^_^
