@rysiek i actually prefer using vim directly as a terminal multiplexer (with dtach for the other function of screen), much more flexible than gnu screen.
for dtach, i don't have my config handy, but it's really mostly a function on the client PC that wraps ssh + calling dtach on a particular socket file, creating it if necessary.
There are a lot of things in my .vim, hopefully it's not too much of a mess to look through.
