As well as essentially saying that their valuables (stereo and record collection) can “go to hell”, he’s mostly there to berate them for their fashion choices, saying that their attire is so out-of-date, that they appear far older than they truly are.
Easy fashion, as in they save money on crap that won’t be fashionable in even two years.
The robber here is pointing out that the mistake they are making is setting aside their time and effort to earn “valuable” things.
In this context, “your money or your life” suddenly begins to mean something entirely different. As in, will you live your life? Or just earn money only to waste it?”
