I see a lot of arthropods outdoors, but rarely notice them interacting with each other.
Only found out what a rove beetle was within the last week. Kind of fascinating that they are beetles at all. Look like something much different.
@PTR_K@DebraMartz I saw that at my parents house. I had only seen 2 to 3 Rove beetles in my life till that point - and this is where I grew up. 40 odd years in basically the same area. I had seen more mole crickets than Rove beetles. And it was only about the second time I ever saw a bess beetle not ensconced in rotting wood. (If you've never seen a mole cricket, google them). This was in the North GA USA area.
@Da_Gut@PTR_K Wow! Hover flies in the billions on migration routes! Interesting study. I watch Bird Cast daily during the Spring and Fall bird migrations. Very interesting to find what flies over, high the sky at night!
