Weird functional regression on Windows 11—I seem to have lost the ability to set distinctive wallpaper for each virtual desktop. I had four desktops on my Surface Laptop Go until I reset it a couple of weeks ago; same thing for my Surface Go that I reset and started using again this past weekend. Now, on both machines, changing any of them changes all of them.
@maxleibman on an unrelated note, I am trying to set up a dev environment on my Windows 11 laptop from work and I really can't think of dealing with anything this bad at work except when I was getting constantly harassed by Nazi coworkers every day
@alter_kaker Sometimes, I get the feeling that not only do I like Windows more than Mac and Linux people do . . . I even like Windows more than Microsoft does, if we judge by how much care they put into it. 🙄
@maxleibman It's there in my Windows 11. Right-click on an image "Set to desktop". I don't use it though because it slows down. I've used my AutoHotkey DLL to change it in the past also, but it too slows down the change of the desktop.
@Ciantic I still have that, and it works, but what's missing is I can't set a different background for EACH desktop.
Prior to resetting the laptop, I had four virtual desktops, and each one had a different background. Now, no matter which method I use to set the wallpaper, they all change in sync.
@maxleibman I updated my post to, it should be possible with right click Set to desktop ...
I tested it, and it works for me, but note that it was so buggy I stopped using it. Sometimes if you switch quickly between desktops it loses the plot.
