The song that got me into Mastodon sooo many years ago. This was actually off Lifesblood EP that I could not find on YT music but found on this comp later.
@derthomas@Kitty Yessss it's a compilation of earlier stuff and I think there may be a couple un-released or maybe b-side type tracks. Lifesblood was their first album (EP) then Remission. I got into them when Remission came out and actually saw them on that tour in a tiny ass club in my city. I was ~16 years old then. It was seriously like a religious experience 🤓 They've been one of my favorites since then and I feel like I've grown up with them.
@derthomas@Kitty I am actually not a huge fan of this compilation. Lifesblood stood on it's own as does Remission. I feel like you really need to listen to them separately. You can also hear the progression the band makes through all their albums as they matured and experimented and improved etc. Sorry I'm an über Mastodon nerd 🤓

I only listen to them since 2013, that's when my transformation into a metalhead took off. So I started more with the newer albums. They never let me down, EoS and H&G needed some time to grow on me, but I soon loved them. And I don't know how many times I listened to H&G only because the intro to the album is what it is 😀
@derthomas@Kitty Oh man H&G is a masterpiece in my mind. And it was very timely for things I was going through at the time too. It's just insane they line up with my life in such a way.
@derthomas@vanessawynn@Kitty I listened to Blood & Thunder pretty often while playing NfS: Most Wanted and realized that it's a Mastodon song much later.😅
@vanessawynn@derthomas@Hadeur@Kitty Fucking love Mastodon, one of my five bands of all times. Back in 2003 I ordered EVERYTHING they had in their online shop … except the cap. So guess what they sent me on top for free … 😄 You can see the handwritten note in this article where I wrote down why I don’t want to review Mastodon albums any more … 😄

And yes, Marie Käferchen is a nice book 😄 … and there’s still a lot of great stuff hidden on BYE, even if I personally don’t have much time left to write and just try to keep the mag alive.

@vanessawynn one more reason to learn, right? 😜 @trendskater well my very first post in here was a Mastodon song and after that I did my first Metaljourney with Mastodon 😀 I love them ever since I first listened to them 10 years ago, that was exactly what made me dive deeper into metal. Also these guys are really likeable. @Kitty@Hadeur
@derthomas@vanessawynn@Kitty@Hadeur I thought they will be huge some day but I didn’t expect them to become THIS popular amongst metalheads 😄 I first saw them live at Logo in Hamburg, a small club around the corner, and I wish I could see them in such a nice small venue again … And yes, they have a great taste of humor and I like what Brann is doing on Instagram 😄
