A new genre of cookbooks is providing recipes for all your favorite TV and movie meals, from the hobbits' lembas bread and the pies of Azeroth to Monica's onion galette from "Friends." Some of the biggest of these books sell hundreds of thousands of copies. Esquire's Callum Bains talked to recipe developers about the challenges of re-creating fictional food, and why they think people are interested in eating it. “It’s just a whole other way to cosplay,” says Elena Craig, who’s written cookbooks for the worlds of "Harry Potter," "Deadpool," and "Hocus Pocus." We want to know, what do you think is the most delicious TV show or movie? For the purposes of this poll, we're conflating series/franchises and individual movies and TV shows. Tell us in the comments if we've missed a really obvious one!

There was love for every one of our poll options, but the Studio Ghibli movies were selected as the tastiest, with "Big Night" in second place. Recommendations from the comments? "Tampopo," the first ramen Western, "Fried Green Tomatoes," "A Song of Ice and Fire" (the official cookbook, "A Feast of Ice and Fire" came out in 2012), "Babette's Feast," "Chocolat" and "World of Warcraft" — specifically the mana buns. @philmoscovitch would like to see the recipe book of Robert B. Parker's "Spenser" character, "a tough guy private eye but also loves to cook."

@CultureDesk Tampopo. But Big Night is a strong second.

@KeithAmmann How could we have omitted the first ramen Western? We should really run second polls after the first has finished with all the answers we forgot and that clever fediverse folk reminded us of!

@CultureDesk I got some of those as presents, and all friends who have some did not buy them themselves. If you are not interested in cosplaying food most recipes are just not very good...

@SimonHain That was our instinct too! There are definitely some films and TV shows where the food looks particularly yummy (see the poll!) but we don't particularly want to eat the food that Peter Parker would eat ("Marvel: Spider-Man: The Official Cookbook," coming soon).
