journalists are great but I'd rather just track every popular person on closed platforms and see if they're on the fedi yet, and where. compare follower counts. I want everyone here and sadly, getting the people with the most followers to join here is a great way to do that.

I have somewhat changed my mind since.
"Big is not beautiful"-- "popular" people like #TFG and #Tucker, etc. I'd rather not see here spreading their venom.
The same holds true for other far-right people and "#ultras" or #MAGATs like #MTG or #Bobo.
I'd much rather have all scientists of note as well as all government bodies...
...divertissement attention away from people more deserving of our attention span from the aforementioned groups.
That said, there are definitely communalities between them and the people popular on the #CorpSites.
Thus, it would be interesting to have such a list.
I want everyone here. That's the way the #openweb works. Beyond what's actually illegal, if people want to say crazy shit on their own instance, that's the internet. If they harass, block them.

I would argue that a big part of the #US population is already lost to central tenets of #democracy...

Anyone who gets almost all his "news" from the self-proclaimed non-journalistic #FauxNews channel will, in all likelihood, never be redeemed.
