@mariyadelano A Tornado Watch means the conditions are favorable to the formation of a tornado but does not mean a tornado is imminent. Pay attention to your surroundings, be alert to changes in weather, but try to not panic.
So we seem to be located in a very weird safe spot between two zones of the storm. We can see the storm over Denver from our window, while our house still has direct sunlight.
@mariyadelano A tornado watch only means that atmospheric conditions favor the formation of the kinds of storms that can produce tornadoes. It just means to pay attention for possible warnings. Also, tornadoes here are usually weaker than the ones in the Plains and the South, because of the local geography (nearby mountains, relatively dry climate)….
@mariyadelano Turns out the hail and heavy rain were the bigger risk today! I hope you didn’t have too much where you are. I live in eastern Denver and we got a little hail, but only small hailstones (half-inch or less).
@mariyadelano Stay safe, ideally, look for a room with no windows inside the house. Evacuation is usually not an option with tornadoes, by the time you hear the alarm it’s already there, and a car is not where you want to be. Sorry if you already know this.
@mariyadelano Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for a Tornado. A warning means they one has formed in your area.
Personally, I wouldn't evacuate under a watch, but would want to know the whereabouts of my loved ones and know where to seek shelter: a basement or lower floor, in the middle of your home, away from windows.
