I mentioned Miles Hunt in my previous She Makes War post. So I want to post a Wonder Stuff song....
I first got intro’d to the music of Laura Kidd AKA She Makes War, Penfriend and Obey Robots in about 2010. I didn’t really take enough time to really listen to her stuff properly, so didn’t get very engaged with her work....
This band is based in Bristol in the UK. They sound a lot like The Velvet Underground, so they also sound like Luna/Galaxie 500 and all the other VU influenced bands. There’s also hints of Cowboy Junkies and Wilco on some songs and a little bit of Belle and Sebastian. Their discography is worth a listen, and they have a new...
I believe they are from Toronto. They are in my mental filing system next to The Sundays, Cocteaus and Innocence Mission. This is a lovely song....
