With BeMyAI and Lookout on the rise and existing services like Seeing AI and Envision being out there, it seems like a lot of people are trying to become familiar with phone cameras and their interfaces. There are a lot of questions about camera positioning--e.g., how to point, how to stand, what will be covered, etc.

Would it be helpful to have an article or an audio tutorial that covers these topics?

Faylen,

@ppatel Yes! And article preferred at least for me. I'd much rather read an article than listen to audio, but that's just me.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@Faylen If there's audio, it will have a transcript.

Faylen,

@ppatel Oo, even better. That means deaf people could get the info also. I'm not deaf, I'd just rather read something at my own pace/be able to copy bits and pieces for personal notes if I want to, things like that.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@Faylen Oh absolutely. I understand that.

sillyblindharper,

@ppatel @devinprater There already is Judy Dixon’s photography books from NBP.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@sillyblindharper @devinprater Yes. I've heard about it. Not everyone can afford it though.

sillyblindharper,

@ppatel @devinprater You could get Judy Dixon’s permission to turn it in to an audio tutorial. She really has put a lot of work in to that book and it would be a shame to see it wasted. It has literally everything you are wanting to know. I learnt a lot from it. But most of my photography skills have come from doing.

@lynnskyi I've definitely decided to work on it. If there's audio, there will most certainly be a transcript.

@ppatel for me that would be very helpful, I prefer a written one

@svenja If it's audio, then, there will be a transcript.

@ppatel thats great.

amorphisbear,

@ppatel Yes. Absolutely it would be helpful.

TheVoiceGuy,

@ppatel Absolutely it would! Audio tutorial? Anything.

jcsteh,

@ppatel That's a great idea. I am hopeless at camera usage and positioning, so I think that'd be really useful.

douglawlor,

@ppatel If you produce a tutorial, I'll certainly give it a listen as well. Taking photos or video isn't my strong suit for shure.

@ppatel @noahcarver I have been teaching myself how to use the camera for years, but I am always open to tips and new info. I bought the Judy Dixon book a few years ago, but it didn't really go into as much depth as I thought it would. If you write an article, or record an audio tutorial, I'll definitely give it a listen.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@Lynessence @noahcarver I looked at that book earlier today. It was not as detailed as I'd like to be. I'll do a thorough introduction to photography and how to take good pictures.

noahcarver,

@ppatel Absolutely. I would love this.

Dennislong82,

@ppatel I agree.

Piciok,

@ppatel @charvor Yes, definitely, although I'm not sure whether a static demonstration will cover all of the possible cases. I feel like this is such an individual thing that a webinar may be a better option here.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@Piciok @charvor I agree. I'm planning on a static tutorial for conceptual background plus examples. And then I'll do a follow up webinar with Q&A.

charvor,

@ppatel Yes, please. :)_

@ppatel Yes I believe it would. Speaking for myself I'd be interested to read such.

@ppatel Yes it would. There was a book about it years ago in theNational Braille Press. I never bought it though so I dunno what it's like.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@KaraLG84 Hmm.I didn't even know about it. I'll check and see if it changes/'improves my understanding of the topic.

vol4life8657,

@ppatel Both an article and a tutorial would be very helpful.

ppatel,
@ppatel@mstdn.social avatar

@vol4life8657 If there's an audio tutorial, it will be transcribed.

vol4life8657,

@ppatel Ah, nice!

baethyn,

@ppatel It would probably be helpful. I know I had sight before and I still have a tendency to put the camera slightly off in one direction or another.

@ppatel yes absolutely

devinprater,
