: Star Wars Dark Droids No. 1 (2023) - Charles Soule, Luke Ross, Alex Sinclair

First, it comes for the metal…and then, it comes for everything else. This spin-off is properly chilling, with Soule’s writing setting the foundation for what will almost certainly be a thoroughly horrifying miniseries.

The art is gorgeous and dramatic, eerie and unsettling. Even if you’re like me and not the biggest Star Wars fan in the world, I still recommend this one quite heartily. 4/5 stars.

keirmot,

@thecalchemist question, how bad is it with cross referencing and cross promotion?

I gave up on comics when a series I was reading required me to buy a volume of another series to know what happened in between two volumes.

There’s only so much capitalism I can take in my escapism.

thecalchemist,

@keirmot besides the usual ads for other stuff, I understood everything that was going on without having picked up a SW comic in ages. As long as you know the basic plot and Luke and his droids you’re good to go

keirmot,

@thecalchemist adding it to my "to read" list to give Marvel comics another chance, then.
