This may be a stupid question but why do I have to manually save media that I got via #signal to the gallery? I can see it in the chat even if I'm not connected to the internet, so it's clearly already saved somewhere.

it is saved in the app sandbox, which is not accessible by other apps. Once you saved it in download, every app with access to download folder can access it.
@czhang03 Thanks. I get that it's done for security reasons, but is there a way to skip the sandbox, maybe just for certain contacts? I'm tired of explaining to my relatives for the hundredth time that they have tto download media before they can forward it via whatsapp.
@czhang03 oh true, you're technically right. But they're used to sharing stuff from the gallery. Not sure if I'll be able to explain this new 'work flow' to them :blobcatgiggle: I'll try.
