@svetlozaurus I would but do watch the directors version which is better paced. It starts slow but somehow the slow start helped me really appreciate the later events. It's not a perfect drama by any stretch but it is sad to be very loyal to the book. One of the highest rated dramas in China. You can watch it on the Viki app

I should probably still finish all books first, but from what I’ve read so far, the story is interesting enough without any extra frills needed. So would be also curious to see how a more faithful adaptation looks like.
