@fkamiah17 I steam my veg in my rice cooker, as my rice cooks🤤🤤🤤 And we practically live out our slow cooker in the winter. I fucken love cooking gadgets!
@fkamiah17 I didn't get a rice cooker for so long, because it was a single use item, and now I use it several times a week, I can cook a whole meal in it!
@diverdutch@RickiTarr I do porridge in mine, if I forget to put it in the slow-cooker overnight. I only just found out that you can steam veg in it, which I'll definitely be doing from now on!

@TCMuffin@fkamiah17 There's nothing wrong with it at all, but if you cook a decent amount of rice it's really nice, plus relatively inexpensive compared with a lot of kitchen gadgets. I cooked rice in the microwave for years myself. There's actually an interesting website that teaches college students and people without kitchens how to make whole meals in rice cookers, people even make cakes!
@TCMuffin@RickiTarr I wouldn't want to speculate on which is better than any other model. My one does what I bought it for and more (you can also do cakes in air fryers!) and I picked it at random.
@RickiTarr I just found a website about rice cooker cooking, thanks to your comment. I'd never thought to do anything other than rice in ours (although it does do the rice beautifully).
@RickiTarr It works!!! Of course, you already knew that, but I'm so pleased with today's meal 😍 And cooking three portions only cost about 10p in electricity which is an unexpected economic bonus.

@RolloTreadway Oooh, I've never tried that! I've got a bamboo steamer but I hardly ever drag it out of the cupboard. I've got these tube things for cooking veg - chuck it in, fill with boiling water and 5 mins later - hey presto! They even have little colander things on the top. Best tenner I've spent lately 👍
