imagine a construction company that put out a statement, “we’re going to stop using power tools because there’s a lot of workplace injuries”. That would be crazy. Sure, i get that with a circular saw, it LOOKS like you just have to pull a trigger, but there’s actually a bit more to using it safely. You train your workers #LLMs#AI
@kellogh completely agreed. ai is just a tool. if you use a tool irresponsibly, that doesn't mean the tool is bad. there's been a ton of conversation about copying and pasting from stackoverflow being bad too, but no one is advocating for people to just not use stack
OTOH you also don’t have tool manufacturers pitching customers a vision of the power tools building houses autonomously, whereas this seems like a totally reasonable in a VC-driven market
software is nuts. TBH i kinda enjoy the insanity, it keeps things interesting. But you gotta be real fucking suspicious of the guy who tries to pitch it all as normal professional behavior
