The area is eroding but the root held sabd pile and maybe some finer roots make some of this a little less likely to erode So you get this pedestal shape you see here. Notice the little shelf extending downwind. Also, a scour hollow upwind from the pedestal obstacle. In the this part of Mesquite Dunes there is depostion and erosion (deflation). #geology #DeathValley
