@Hoot I was speaking with someone who used to do these type of advertisements. She told me they used to use white bread to smooth out some of the areas in photography.

White bread. How appropriate. And actually clever. A church in Sweden restored the interior age-sooted stone walls by rubbing fresh baked bread to lift off the soot and not harm the stone.
