I think the wildest thing about Pathological Demand Avoidance is that folks don't realize that we don't -just- do it to other people. Where we resist doing tasks asked of us. We also do it to ourselves and that's what causes a lot of mental paralysis. Our own heads make so many demands our body only has the energy to resist.

It's taken me an incredible amount of time to be able to understand this. The energy we burn with anxiety and overthinking and paranoia pushes us into a chronic exhaustion. And our body's only way to rebel and protect itself is to shut down.
It's not working against us, but without a way to understand what your own body is doing - it FEELS like it's fighting us. When it's just incredibly exhausted and wants to be left alone.

If you're struggling with this too, I'm so sorry. I don't have much to say except that your nasty head parrot needs to shut up - and you need to give yourself time between tasks. Like half an hour at least.

Make chores and requests on YOUR time as much as you can get away with.

Yeah, it’s difficult to explain so ways irl, to me I’m sorting my own pda, will be finally starting something then someone calls me away to x.

I’m swearing like a sailor until I get there, then I’m like ok we are all humans, we perceive differently for the life of me trying to explain that feels like it’s soo complex, to a person who doesn’t have those issues.

even if they do have a grasp of psychology and ND, then it’s still catching and receiving foreign concepts.🐘

@EVDHmn @pathfinder Not everyone is going to understand and that just adds to the exhaustion. Honestly I didn't realize daggers like 'lazy' and 'disgusting' hooked themselves in deep with my self esteem.

It also took me way too long to realize that I even HAD PDA, because those words were all I knew. But when I realized how much my body does to protect itself and it's energy it was a bit easier to explain, but I still assume those folks think I'm lying unless they know me.
