Just an average Starfleet vessel completely crewed by small animals. Between shifts they visit a communal holodeck village. Nothing serious ever happens.
Until it does and Commander Nook needs to request a crewmember replacement. And the replacement's a Human.
I know I said in my last entry that nothing particularly interesting ever happens on the Nogami, but I would like to amend that statement, yes yes. Something has happened. Not four days ago the kind of weird event that normally only befalls the big-name ships like Enterprise managed to happen to mine specifically.
But we lost Lieutenant Boomer. The wake was… quite moving, really. Now, I'd hate to seem heartless but the moment it was over and I found myself back here in my personal quarters, I immediately put in a request with Starfleet Command for a replacement. I may not be heartless, but I'm first and foremost a professional.
I have to admit, I never really thought anyone could replace Boomer but I didn't expect what Command wrote back this morning.
Now you might've noticed that Tom Nook is first officer, and he's the one to request someone new be transferred in. There's no mention of the captain.
This is the terrible secret of Star Trek Crossing: the USS Nogami has no captain.
Every time the captain has to make an appearance, the others make some excuse. Half of Command is in on the joke but can't help play along with these little animals trying to pull the wool over their eyes.
And that's something for Lt. Yorna Mere to discover.
