What's the point of buying new phones every years?

Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...

TanknSpank,

I only upgrade every 3-4 years, but there's a lot of subtle differences that make it worth it. For example my current phone is far more reliable with Bluetooth connections than the previous one. It's got a better camera with AI photo touching. It's waterproof. Its fingering sensor is more sensitive and quicker.

TanknSpank,

The vast vast majority of games I play.

Oxigen Not Included, RimWorld, Gone Medieval, Stationeers, Starbound, Stardew Valley, etc

TanknSpank,

If it's a public place and you have legitimate business starting there for a while, I don't see any issue with it. Eg. Doctors waiting room and you have an appointment, restaurant and you're dining there, etc.

If it's someone's private home I'd ask first.

TIL you can drag items over other items in the crafting grid

Despite having played VS for 1000s of hours today I learned that i can drag items over other items in the crafting grid and they're not replaced. For example placing plans in the middle for gates, then being able to drag sticks over all 6 spots will not remove the planks in the middle.

Would you use threads if it respected your privacy?

I keep seeing everyone say their privacy is why they aren’t going to use threads. I don’t think that’s entirely true. I think most of us here have a hatred so deep for meta that even if they made the greatest app on earth, we’d still not use it. So, if threads actually respected your privacy would you use it?

TanknSpank,

If Threads wasn't Threads and wasn't part of the Meta ecosystem, and this could be guaranteed to me forever, sure I might use whatever that would be. But that's so far from reality as to be a meaningless question.

TanknSpank,

Gmail on mobile, Gmail website on desktop

TanknSpank,

Keep in mind that the balloon of blood in this case is being crushed by water. Any blood wouldn't have hit the walls as much as diluted in many gallons of water. Without a chance to deposit and dry, blood doesn't really "paint" things.

TanknSpank,

This was linked on some post about alternatives to that other site I want to stop using. And honestly I'm quite confused on the "it doesn't matter/it does matter" so I'm just rolling with it and not trying to worry about it.

TanknSpank,

Freedom and flexibility. I can go 3 blocks, 30 minutes or 3000 miles whenever i want. I start in my driveway and end in the parking lot of my destination. I don't have to worry about timing, connections, or how much i need to transport. I can be early, late, go for a 3am snack or start a trip at 4am so i catch the whole day at the mountains.

TanknSpank,

Ideally they moderate enough to not be removed but gradually and subtly use moderation as a way to drive people away.

TanknSpank,

Node.js with Postgres and raw HTML+CSS+JS for the front end.

I'd host it on AWS (familiarity) so i can scale it as needed.
