floofloof,

Do the grown-ups too. The rich could afford it.

floofloof,

Yet they’re basing political might on what they’ve heard these books are about, and how it lines up with what their local pastors and “news” sources shove up their ass.

It’s characteristic of today’s right wing that they will follow their authority figures and would-be fascist dictators like sheep, while accusing everyone who disagrees or questions them of being mindless sheep.

Using AI to deprive people of the means to live well isn’t just stupidity, it’s capitalism. Some of the harms are caused by stupidity but others are caused by malign ideology.

floofloof,

It’s a pretty precarious situation when so much of the functioning of societies around the world depends on these very few companies that can manufacture these chips. Especially when Taiwan is the hub of it all.

Then I got a lot of duplicate files. For example in subfolders relating to my mp3 player I even discovered my whole NextCloud ‘drive’ is there again: /run/user/1000/doc/by-app/org.strawberrymusicplayer.strawberry/51b78f5c/N

In Linux a file can show up several times in the filesystem without being duplicated. Symbolic links and hard links will cause this to happen, and they’re a normal part of organizing the filesystem. Just because you see a file in several places, that doesn’t mean disk space is wasted with duplicates. There may be only one physical copy of the file, appearing in multiple places. With hard links you need to be especially careful about deleting, since you’ll think you’re deleting one of several duplicates but you’ll in fact delete the only copy of the file.

Huh. Fascism is on the rise everywhere. The planet is being destroyed by greedy billionaires. People are struggling to pay for food. There are wars and genocides. But he thinks the ugliest danger is “gender ideology”, whatever that is.

And he says it erases differences. If “gender ideology” is being a non-bigot about gender, then that respects differences. What erases differences is forcing everyone to conform to only two set gender stereotypes.

It’s saddening that dogma prevents him seeing how dramatically advances in understanding and respect for gender have improved so many people’s lives. And it’s disappointing to see him align himself and his church with forces of oppression.

floofloof,

The sad thing is that if Americans vote at all, they’re voting for a genocide supporter. The best they can do is vote for the genocide supporter whose other policies they prefer.

floofloof,

Now punish the corporations proportionately for the damage and destruction they have caused.

Maybe they’ll be kind enough to offer an ad-free subscription that doesn’t waste ink and paper for just $10 more per month.*

It doesn’t sound like a particularly bad breach but they didn’t disclose it very quickly, which never works in a company’s favor. I use Nord VPN still. I tried Mullvad for a while and it was good, but I found Nord did a better job at getting around geoblocks, and was cheaper. I use Mullvad’s browser with it though.

Proof would be something, because their word is not trustworthy at all. And the onus of proof is on the IDF. They’ve killed more than 30,000 people in 4 months. They’ve destroyed half of the homes in Gaza and destroyed the hospitals. They’re keeping the people under siege, starving them of food and water and depriving them of medical care. Are we supposed to believe the IDF is being careful and conscientious? The evidence is before the world’s eyes, despite the IDF killing a good number of the journalists reporting on it. It would be quite in keeping with all this for the IDF to have killed the people in this news story as well. And even if there was a stampede, was it caused by the IDF opening fire? If so, they still killed these people.

floofloof,

Israeli troops ‘fire on people waiting for aid’ as Gaza death tolls hits 30,000 (www.msn.com)

Kamel Abu Nahel, who was being treated for a gunshot wound at Shifa Hospital, said he and others went to the distribution point in the middle of the night because they heard there would be a delivery of food. “We’ve been eating animal feed for two months,” he added....

Meanwhile…

ExxonMobil is suing investors who want faster climate action

But sure, the lack of climate action is the public’s fault and Exxon would love to help but has its hands tied.

I have talked with friends about beef. On the one hand, the beef industry is a terribly cruel process producing a relatively expensive food that’s significantly contributing to climate change and destruction of forests. By eating less of it you’d save money, reduce animal and human suffering and protect the planet. On the other hand, it’s tasty. Many people will listen to the problems and even acknowledge them, but changing their eating habits is another matter.

floofloof,

“… and also fuck my own children and their descendants.”

That’s the bit that puzzles me, but I guess the answer is either

  1. they mistakenly think climate change will spare their rich descendants, or
  2. they’re so pathologically selfish they can’t muster up any real concern for their own children and grandchildren.
floofloof,

They don’t really believe they’re shooting at Hamas. They believe they’re shooting at subhuman animals. This is the genocidal mindset.

The IDF says Palestinians were hurt by “pushing and trampling”

How irresponsible of the starving Palestinians not to file out in an orderly manner while being shot.

floofloof,

Israel is responsible for making these people desperate enough that they get trampled in a rush for scarce food. Israel also admits it opened fire on a crowd of hungry civilians. Nothing about this makes the IDF look anything other than very bad.

floofloof,

Privatize the profits; socialize the losses. Good old capitalism.
