What is better: to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?

I’d spray it, save the babies, and then continue being atheist.

I wasn’t magically transformed into an atheist so I’m not terribly concerned about being magically transformed back.

What does that even mean? What is “the American psyche”? What does it mean for it to be diseased?

Experiments like these only proves “BI”. Still waiting for someone to explain how the “U” is supposed to work.

Could the Federation defeat Star Wars' Empire in an all-out war?

Would a Federation warship like the Defiant out gun a Star Wars Star Destroyer? Who has a bigger armada? Who has the tactical advantage? Don’t forget that The Federation includes the Klingons, who love warfare and have fast, agile, heavily armed ships, with cloaking devices, and the Vulcans with superior logic and tactical...

There’s a fan fic about exactly this question, written by Graham Kennedy (of the Daystrom Institute Technical Library website.)

www.ditl.org/portal-chapter1.php

tl;dr: Federation shields, weapons, engines, and tactics are vastly superior, and they are nearly impervious to the Force. But the Empire has a huge numerical advantage.

spoilerThe Federation wins, but not easily. Mars is destroyed by the Death Star.

I saw a recent post that 60% of playtime in 2023 was spent on games 6 years or older. What 6+ year old games are you playing?

I haven’t stopped playing Overwatch since it came out, still getting on with friends 2 or 3 nights a week and putting in a few hours (and I’m still awful lol). I also still log on to Battlefield 1943 from time to time to get in a few matches....

Left4Dead2, the greatest game ever made.

One that you didn’t have to make for yourself.

Greg Barns claims that the case should be stopped because it represents an unprecedented attempt by the US to prosecute an individual who is not one of its citizens, and who was not in the US when the WikiLeaks material was published. This is called extraterritorial reach and generally the law frowns on it.

The US and the UK have an extradition treaty that permits this. The UK can withdraw from the treaty, but unless they do this line of argument is willfully dishonest.

The US government demanded access to the US based social media companies to pull whatever sensitive information they wanted. They just don’t want China to have the same access.

Or Russia, Iran, or North Korea.

charonn0,
@charonn0@startrek.website avatar

The only difference between TikTok and other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram is that TikTok is Chinese owned.

The law would also appy to Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

I think you’re thinking of an open relay, not a catchall mailbox.

Not only is "Seinfeld" vastly overrated, any claim that it pioneered the concept of "a show about nothing" is ridiculous and imbecilic.

First of all, yeah, come at me. “Seinfeld” is only kinda-sorta funny, at best. Seinfeld himself is really not funny at all. His act is perpetually stuck between the oldschool, early 1950s-style, cigar-waving “hyuk-hyuk, get a load of all my jokes about women drivers” comedians and the post-Lenny Bruce era, where...

The “show about nothing” was a fictional, in-universe sitcom called “Jerry”. The real show “Seinfeld” was about where a comedian got his material.

It’s an older reference, sir, but it checks out.

Social media apps are invasive. Social media apps controlled by adversarial governments are dangerous. This is true regardless of who we’re talking about. The pearl-clutching over ‘censorship’, ‘racism’, etc. is kind of ridiculous.
