Delta_V,

This article is easily falsifiable bullshit. Just ask google a question and you’ll get the same kind of search results as you always have.

Delta_V,

The claims about price are sus too, for all the EVs mentioned. The actual price of Tesla’s cheapest Model 3 starts around $45k, so the author’s claim that you can buy a Model Y for $34k throws the veracity of the entire article into question.

Delta_V,

Yeah, the whole thing is a monument to evil men exploiting the locals.

Delta_V,

Yeah, there’s no way all those seams are gonna hold in the AC/heat, and I would bet there’s sub-optimal insulation in all the floors and ceilings exposed to outside air.

With Austin office buildings 20 percent vacant, conversion to housing remains out of reach (www.austinmonitor.com)

Two years ago, with the office real estate market in Austin stuck at a 20 percent vacancy rate, Brad Stein took the first of two trips to other markets to see if some of the hundreds of thousands of empty spaces in downtown Austin and areas beyond could be converted into badly needed housing stock. What Stein saw in a 2022 visit...

Delta_V,

a return to office when the market is ready

wishful thinking

what’s more expensive, servicing a loan to renovate empty space, or letting that space remain empty forever?

Delta_V,

If someone already quietly had similar tech maneuvering their satellites, and wanted to remain the only actor with eyes in the sky that can’t be shot down or eventually chased down due to lack of fuel.

Delta_V,

Missed opportunity: “Standard Missile” is an actual weapon, deployed and in use today.

Delta_V,

isn’t that the code that lets you both play as the same character in Street Fighter?

Is there something wrong with GOG version of Fallout 4?

I got hyped by the TV series so I will play the game for the first time (yes, I know, it took this long). I usually prefer to buy GOG version of a game but I saw the rating of FO4 GOG at 3.9/5. Why is that? I have read somewhere that there is technical issue of some sort which includes modding for GOG version? I expected higher...

Delta_V,

The gunplay is nothing like a modern FPS. Hitting your targets depends on your character’s stats, and is only somewhat related to where you aim the cursor. You can aim right at something, but if your skills are low, the bullets will curve and miss, and the inverse is true too - with high skill, your bullets aimed off-target will curve to hit.

There’s no sprinting - your movement speed is locked to ‘mosey’.

It crashes a lot, and some saves crash immediately when loaded, so you need to save often across a variety of different save files to avoid losing too much progress.

Delta_V,

not seen in this comic: the linux file isn’t where the comic/manual/internet nerds says it should be, and there’s no realistic way to find it

Delta_V,

congratulations. you’ve just sent a linux newb down a 12 hour rabbit hole that doesn’t actually solve their problem.

Delta_V,

and that’s why they say piracy is a service issue

if the game you purchase can’t be played without an internet connection, either always online or a once-in-a-while check in, but the game you pirate can always be played regardless of the status of your internet connection . . . one of those is clearly the better service

for example, if my internet connection is up, I’ll play an MMO. when it goes out, I’d like to play Skyrim, but oops, I haven’t loaded the game in the last 30 days and now it wants to check in with the Steam server . . . but it can’t because the internet is out. so i never get to play the game i bought - what good did it do me to purchase a legit version of Skyrim?

Delta_V,

Wouldn’t branding the Iranian military a “terrorist organization” be equivalent to saying the Iranian government is illegitimate and a terrorist organization? And how would that differ from simply declaring war on Iran or deciding to engage in war with Iran without a formal declaration?

Delta_V,

Up to around level 50 or so, mobs are squishy enough that you don’t need weapons perks at all. Eventually, some super mutants become bullet sponges, and you’ll want some kind of damage boost, either weapon perks or just taking lots of combat drugs as needed.

I like to start new games with a focus on Science and Barter. With one point of Science, you can build Industrial Water Purifiers in your settlements. The excess water they produce can be sold to vendors.

Unique leg armor that increases your movement speed can be purchased in Goodneighbor and Vault 81. The Vault 81 vendor also sells the last gun you’ll ever need. I like to trade water for those ASAP.

Next, there’s a quest from The Railroad that gives a HUGE defensive boost.

The Nukaworld expansion introduced a new kind of knife, the Disciples Blade, and it is by far the best melee weapon in the game. A sneaky ninja melee build wielding a Disciples Blade can beat every encounter. The build doesn’t really blossom until the late-late game, but once it does, you’ll never need to use a gun again.

Some people are born evil. More than most of us would care to think too hard about.

“The greatest crimes are not those committed for the sake of necessity but those committed for the sake of superfluity. One does not become a tyrant to avoid exposure to the cold.” – Aristotle

Delta_V,

Does the billionaire that steals the excess production of the working class do so out of necessity?

Does the cop who steals cash from motorists and lies about smelling drugs do so because that cop is underprivileged and disenfranchised by the system?

Not all humans have working moral compasses. Its an unpleasant reality that can be hard for some people to come to grips with and integrate into their worldview, but failure to understand a problem is unlikely to lead to effective solutions.

Delta_V,

Clearly he was wrong sometimes.

Was he wrong about the magnitude of crimes committed for the sake of excess being greater than crimes committed for survival? Who steals more - the capitalist class, or the Jean ValJeans of the world?

Delta_V,

If you see someone merging you can temporarily switch to the middle lane to overtake them

That’s illegal in USA. People do it anyway, but if there’s a crash and blame needs to be assigned, then the law says you’re supposed to keep driving at the same speed, not change lanes, and leave it entirely up to the driver attempting to merge to regulate their speed so they can merge safely.

Delta_V,

That’s not a peer reviewed study - its somebody’s editorialized book report.

Delta_V,

state and local taxes work that way - state and local governments spend tax dollars to buy goods and services

federal taxes just delete money from targeted people, choosing who to make poorer in order to regulate inflation - the federal government creates new dollars when it needs to buy something
