WOR: The Plan Is For TNA To Go Live

Meltzer: "One of the things they've been looking at, and it's not going to happen any time soon, but they want to go live. The idea is to go live and have a location where they would go every Thursday. And Full Sail University is one of the locations that they've talked about....and there are probably other locations as well".

  • Dave says it would be difficult because Orlando already has NXT each week.
  • Scott D'Amore and Lou D'Angeli already went to Full Sail to scout it out.
  • There is some cost savings at Full Sail because they can have the students work on the production side and have students fill up the crowd.
  • A problem is that they're selling some tickets now for their TV tapings. They would need to give tickets away for free if they did Full Sail every Thursday.
  • Dave could see TNA doing a few test runs before the end of the year.
  • Mentality is going live by 2025.
  • Things may have changed with Scott no longer being there.
  • Dave thinks going live would be a bit more exciting for the wrestlers but doesn't know if it will help TV ratings...especially on that channel.
  • "Is it worth the extra cost for a company that is obviously trying to keep costs low? So... we'll see."

Yeah like..they wanna keep costs down, but its gonna be a huge cost. Plus going live isn't gonna help when it's on AXS, and it's unlikely to switch networks since Anthem owns AXS.

Anthem doesn’t have to keep TNA on AXS just because they own it. They could shop it around, and if they chose to do so, being live would make it much more attractive.

If there aren’t plans to shop it, though, I’m not sure what going live would accomplish.

going live is a horrible idea even roh didn’t go live.

tna could have a good thing going for them filling the void of roh. i’d assume scott wanted to scale up gradually and anthem wanted to just get big tv numbers for advertisers.

Doesn't Dixie still have a minority stake in this company? If so, and even if not, they should call her up and ask her about this... If my memory is correct it became a budgetary black hole when Spike dumped them and quit paying the production costs, it's just not worth the expense if you are a small company on a shoestring budget.

On January 4, 2017, Anthem Sports and Entertainment purchased 85% majority stake of TNA Wrestling and Carter resigned as chairwoman after fourteen years in charge. Ed Nordholm of Anthem took over as president.[11] Carter joined the Advisory Board of Fight Media Group, the division of Anthem that deals with the combat sports-related assets of the company where she would focus on the global growth of the brands in that division, while also remaining as a minority shareholder of the company until she left in the same year.

Not anymore it sounds like.

kubj31196,

I thought Anthem parted with Scott D’Amore cause he wanted to scale up and expand and the company didn’t? Now they wanna go live?

Anthem is fucking clueless.
