pactl load-module module-combine-sink sink_name=‘(namehere)’ slaves=‘(put the sink you want to duplicate here)’

Then there will be another sink that’s the exact same as the one you set as a slave that you can play audio to and that OBS can record separately, as for getting something to automatically go to that stream, generally you can use this environment variable:

PULSE_SINK=‘(sinknamehere)’

and make a .desktop file or keyboard shortcut that launches the program with that

you can also make the sink names consistent with something like this but adapted to your audio devices in your wireplumber conf:

<span style="color:#323232;">monitor.alsa.rules = [
</span><span style="color:#323232;">	{
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		matches = [
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		{
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			device.name = "~alsa_card.pci-0000_06_00.*"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		actions = {
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			update-props = {
</span><span style="color:#323232;">				device.name = "alsa_card.pci-0000_06_00"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">				node.nick = "Speakers"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">	}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		{
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		matches = [
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		{
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			device.name = "~alsa_card.usb-Creative_Technology_Ltd_Sound_Blaster_X4*"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		actions = {
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			update-props = {
</span><span style="color:#323232;">				device.name = "alsa_card.usb-Creative_Technology_Ltd_Sound_Blaster_X4"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">				node.nick = "Headphones"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">			}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">		}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">	}
</span><span style="color:#323232;">]

Adding the second sink lets you easily route the audio through one, if I run that command I have it setup like this

pactl load-module module-combine-sink sink_name=‘Game’ slaves=‘easyeffects_sink’

and then I have a sink named “game” that I can record from OBS that isolates my audio from the one called game, but also passes that to my speakers, just seems like an easier way to do what you’re trying to accomplish with the wireplumber thing. I don’t know about if it’s the “proper” way but it works for me!

Newish user migrating to Linux

I have been using Arch Linux with i3wm for around 5 years for work, on my ThinkPad. I am fairly comfortable with pacman and setting up a distro. I have previously tried Mint, Manjaro, KDE Neon, Elementary, and MX Linux, all for the same use case (Work: where I need a browser, Slack, and a MongoDB GUI)....

I highly recommend fedora kiniote if stability is your goal always go immutable

Every single way that flatpak doesn’t integrate well into the OS is easily fixed with minimal effort.

My most ridiculous solution yet, completely solving citrix clipboard issues

bindntr=CTRL,C,exec,hyprctl dispatch closewindow alacrittyclipboard & hyprctl activewindow | rg -q "class: Wfica" && alacritty -qq --config-file ~/.config/alacritty/alacrittyclipboard.toml --class 'alacrittyclipboard' --title 'Office365 Desktop - Nexus (SSL/TLS Secured, 256 bit)' -e sh -c 'sleep .03 && xclip -o | wl-copy'...

The real reason for alacritty is that it’s my terminal emulator of choice and it needed to run “xclip -o | wl-copy” while in focus, or the clipboard won’t update properly.

Do you have any better suggestions?

Matrix client for Android for family and friends. Your experiences.

I want to migrate my friends to self-hosted Matrix server I have for some time now. The problem is, that all Android clients seem missing for me. Element is too buggy (especially for encryption) and has bad UX. Element X is still experimental and lacks core features. FluffyChat has most features and nice ones like stickers, but...

Wait for element x to come out, I had terrible experiences with trying this

prove me wrong

Communist,
@Communist@lemmy.ml avatar

…Do you not realize that the same goes for god?

Communist,
@Communist@lemmy.ml avatar

The second one is wrong, there is no god is not a claim that requires evidence in the same way there are no fairies in my fridge doesn’t require evidence

Communist, (edited )
@Communist@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s making a positive claim about a negative outcome. “There is enough evidence to be confident there aren’t structural problems” is what they’re really saying.

This doesn’t work for god because there’s nothing to check, there’s never been any evidence for god, but there’s been plenty of evidence for structural issues existing.

Communist,
@Communist@lemmy.ml avatar

In that instance, the claim is “There is evidence of X problem”

They then provided the evidence of that problem and were ignored, the burden of proof was on the person making the claim that there was a problem, and there was a problem, they provided proof, and were ignored.

This has nothing in common with the previous scenario.

Lemmy.world: Shouldn't Firefox have a built-in UI to export and import addon data?

Addons have to implement their own ways to backup and import data, it can be very tedious to do so when using multiple or switching profiles. It wouldn’t be possible to just copy and paste profile folders, like from Firefox Nightly to regular Firefox (since the Firefox version is too new), from Firefox to Floorp, or vice versa...

Communist,
@Communist@lemmy.ml avatar

i’d rather they just start using .config for storing configurations and just keep the sensitive data in the profile.
